Cheesesteaks, beer, live music expected to bring life to 'hidden' Bricktown corner

A typical Water Taxi cruise along the Bricktown Canal provides visitors with a guided tour of the entertainment district’s wide array of attractions and history. 

During a nice day, walkways are filled with people strolling along the waterway while others can be seen dining along waterside patios. Two of the leading attractions along the canal, the Land Run Monument and Chickasaw Plaza, are located between a series of waterfalls in a more park-like setting with sloping hills, ample trees and native plantings. 

But what Chad Huntington, owner of the water taxis, doesn’t see much of are visitors enjoying his less traveled stretch of the canal. The Truck Yard, a restaurant, bar, food truck court and entertainment stage, is anticipated to make the now sleepy area into a true destination. 

“Unless you seek it out, at times this area is hidden,” Huntington said. “I think with this addition, we’re going to see a lot more people and there will be a lot more visibility.”
