Oklahoma City gets ready for 2028 Olympics, present Keys to the City to LA28 officials

Before he took over Oklahoma City’s preparations for the 2028 Olympics, Michael Byrnes led the minor-league baseball franchise in town. Whether the RedHawks or Dodgers or Comets, he always made sure the team had a countdown-to-opening-day clock in their Bricktown Ballpark offices every offseason.

“And going from 100 to 99 was kind of the moment of, ‘Oh, boy, here it comes,’” Byrnes said.

He felt the same way over the weekend when his current countdown clock — days to the 2028 Olympics in OKC — went from 1,000 to 999. 

He texted some of his baseball friends about the milestone.
