OKC hits 4 years of record-low unemployment

Oklahoma City has achieved a new record in low unemployment, Mayor David Holt said, by keeping the city's unemployment rate below 4% over four consecutive years.

In a post on X, Holt called the milestone "unprecedented" and noted that the previous record of 38 consecutive months, or about three years, ended in 2001. The post updated statistics he shared in his State of the City address in July, where Holt called the city's low unemployment rate as a sign of a stable and growing economy.

The Oklahoma City metro area’s unemployment rate currently sits at 3%, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data for July 2025. The Tulsa metro area is just .1% above OKC, while Lawton recorded a rate of 3.4%.
