Penn Square Mall marks 65th year with new store openings and renovations

Penn Square Mall is celebrating its 65th year with new retailers, upcoming openings and renovations to the property. 

“It has been wonderful to have our beloved Penn Square Mall bustling with activity as we celebrate its 65th Anniversary,” said Jeff Runnels, General Manager. “As Oklahoma City has changed, Penn Square has changed with it. The mall has been a special place in all our lives for generations and we look forward to seeing it continue to flourish for years to come.” 

Offline by Aerie will open in October on the upper level, west wing. The retailer will bring casualwear, activewear, intimates and swimwear to OKC shoppers. Johnston & Murphy, based in Nashville, is open on the lower level, west wing, offering footwear, apparel, leather goods and luggage for men. Garage Clothing, a Canadian brand, is open on the upper level, west wing, featuring women’s tops, bottoms, dresses, skirts, accessories and other seasonal items. Alo will also open in October. 

Burger King recently opened in the Food Court, bringing its signature menu, including the Whopper, to shoppers. 

The mall also completed an interior refresh, including white paint throughout the upper level and the replacement of the atrium skylight. These updates have made the interior brighter for shoppers. Additional renovations are underway, with American Eagle scheduled to reopen in late August and Foot Locker in late 2025. 

“Penn Square Mall continues to be a cornerstone of Oklahoma City’s retail landscape, with positive growth that reflects the strength of our market,” said Tammy Fate, director of retail development and recruitment at the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber. 

To mark this anniversary, Penn Square Mall is hosting a community celebration throughout August. Visitors can enjoy exclusive retailer offers, a selfie photo op in Center Court, free goody bags while supplies last and a display of photos showcasing the center’s history since 1960. 

Shoppers are also invited to share their Penn Square Mall memories on the mall’s August 1 Facebook post. Comments with photos from past visits, tagged #PSM65Years, will be entered for a chance to win a $500 PerfectGift Visa gift card. Entries are open through August 31.
