Oklahoma City is on a hot streak of low unemployment with a record-setting 40 straight months in a row at under 4%.

The latest report by the U.S. Bureau of Labor shows Oklahoma City metro’s unemployment rate in November was 2.8%. That number is the second lowest in the country among metropolitan statistical areas of over 1 million people, just behind Hartford, Connecticut, which had 2.7% unemployment.

Las Vegas had the highest unemployment at 5.9%.

Eric Long, a research economist with the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber, said he set a forecast of 2% job growth for 2024, which as of November’s year-to-date data exceeded 2.4% with the addition of 16,000 jobs.
