OKC metro boasts the second-lowest unemployment rate in the U.S.
For October, the Oklahoma City MSA recorded an unemployment rate of 1.9%. This represents the second-lowest unemployment rate in the U.S. among metros with more than 1 million in population.
For comparison, Salt Lake City had the No. 1 spot with a rate of 1.4%. Los Angeles had the highest unemployment rate at 7.1%.
Oklahoma City’s unemployment rate of 1.9% was unchanged from the previous month of September. This is the lowest unemployment rate experienced by the Oklahoma City metro in the more than 30 years of recorded data currently displayed on the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ website (1990 to 2021).
The news was also good statewide as unemployment was lower in all of Oklahoma’s 77 counties when compared to the same period last year. The state unemployment rate was 2.7% while the national rate was 4.6%.
