The power of dogs: Bar K celebrates bond between dogs and their owners
It’s been said some of the best ideas come from the desire to solve a problem.
“The creation of Bar K came from a very organic place: where you can bring your dog and have it truly treated like a family member. We couldn’t find it, so we decided to create it,” said David Hensley, founding partner, Bar K.
That place is Bar K, set to open in the Boathouse District in Oklahoma City in early 2022. Founded by Hensley and Leib Dodell, Bar K’s first location opened in Kansas City in 2018.
“We are thrilled to be coming into the Oklahoma City market. It’s full of dog owners and animal lovers. The Boathouse District is world-class and it’s the perfect location for our third Bar K location,” added Hensley.
The increase in dog ownership and desire to incorporate pets into daily activities has inspired many businesses to open their doors to four-legged family members. While restaurants may welcome dogs, it mostly consists of being on a leash with a water bowl. And dog parks are fun for the dogs, but there’s not much for their human companions to do. Bar K offers the best of both worlds: dogs can run and play while owners enjoy great food and drinks and gather with others who share a love of dogs.
