New restaurants, retailers planned at OKC airport
Some 17 new restaurants and retailers have been announced for Will Rogers World Airport.
The airport and concessionaire Paradies Lagardère said additions to occur as early as this summer should help to “redefine the traveler experience” at Oklahoma City’s airport. Mayor David Holt said plans to highlight unique local offerings will amount to a “love letter” of sorts to Oklahoma City.
The new amenities will include iconic national brands such as Starbucks, as well as established local favorites like Hatch, billed as Oklahoma City’s “next-level” breakfast destination.
“With the implementation of this new program, we are confident that retail and dining at WRWA will be better than it’s ever been,” Director of Airports Mark Kranenburg said.
A Tripadvisor retail store will be among the first new entries this summer, along with Vino Volo Craft, to offer award-winning wines and craft cocktails. Others to follow later in the year will include Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steak Burgers, which has dozens of locations across Oklahoma City and was voted to Forbes’ 2019 “America’s Best Franchises” list.
Other additions will include Elemental Coffee Cafe, a popular community-driven, small-batch roastery and cafe; Osteria, a classic Italian cuisine restaurant and craft bar; Tropical Smoothie Cafe; Plenty Mercantile, a local gift store with special focus on hospitality and sustainability; Tin Lizzie’s, to offer selections from Oklahoma-owned boutiques and artisans; Oklahoma’s Own News 9 Travel Essentials; Corsa featuring Brighton and SPANX, which will offer top fashions and accessories; and iStore Express, a quick stop for tech accessories.
Kranenburg said nationally recognized brands are expected to come online close to the opening of the airport’s terminal expansion later this year. Local brands will follow as air travel recovers from the pandemic
Already at the airport, Paradies Lagardère operates The Grill at OKC, OKC Flight Cantina and Tuk Tuk Go, which offers an assortment of grab-and-go offerings.
“The improvements at Will Rogers have been nothing short of extraordinary the last two decades, and the vision presented here by Paradies Lagardère reflects that evolution,” Holt said.
The mayor said he was pleased with plans to add the mix of top national brands with top-quality local amenities.
“We’re America’s 25th-largest city. We have unique retail, drink and food options, and they deserve to be highlighted at our airport, which is our city’s front door,” Holt said. “I’m delighted with the work they’ve put into it. The concession plan they are advancing will be a love letter to Oklahoma City, and that’s exactly what we deserve. We look forward to this partnership.”
As travel returns, the airport and Paradies Lagardère, with business partners Kamber’s at the Airport LLC and Plenty Mercantile LLC, will finalize scheduling.
“We greatly appreciate our long-standing partnership with Will Rogers World Airport and applaud their forward-thinking efforts in evolving their overall concessions program to reflect the new reality of today and the future,” said Paradies Lagardère President and CEO Gregg Paradies. “We are confident that our offering of exciting local and national concepts will exceed the expectations of OKC travelers.”
