Makeover planned for Midtown garage in Oklahoma City

The former service station, garage and car dealership at 308 NW 10 consists of three adjoining buildings, the oldest of which was built in 1923. Tenants included a Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealership from 1932 to 1942, and in later years a tire shop.

Remember the North Canadian River? Growing up in Oklahoma City, I remember driving, well, riding, north up May Avenue towards the fairgrounds. It was always a reason to gauge the width of the water below. Often, it wasn't very wide.

That's what I remember growing up in Oklahoma City back in the 1970s. But the now-named Oklahoma River has plenty of water and plenty of dreams, like Olympic-hopeful-sized dreams.

GBT Realty Corp. has purchased 30 acres in Oklahoma City to develop the first phase of the $50 million The Market at Czech Hall retail development. 

Construction of the first phase of the 450,000-square-foot development began last week, the company said.


Rock & Brews sets ribbon cutting

The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber will preside over a ribbon cutting for the new Rock & Brews restaurant at 2 p.m. Jan 28 at 2737 W Memorial Road.

KISS members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley co-founded Rock & Brews with restaurateur Michael Zislis and concert industry veterans Dave and Dell Furano.
