Recreational Equipment Inc., known more widely as just REI, is now in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma City, to be exact.

The popular outdoor co-op officially opened for business Friday at 1731 Belle Isle Boulevard, while a formal grand opening ceremony is planned for Nov. 15-17.

Store manager Adam Dozier is one of 57 current new employees at the 23,000-square-foot retail store. Dozier has worked with the company for 10 years, in both Chicago and California, before moving to Oklahoma City.

“The outdoors are different for everyone,” Dozier said. “We are here to help people get outside.”
