A Los Angeles restaurateur and Instagram celebrity is teaming up with local hip-hop artist and businessman Jabee Williams to open a fast-casual eatery along NE 23 that will specialize in new “poke” cuisine.

East Side Poke Project is the first retail tenant announced for a decades-old stretch of mostly empty storefronts at NE 23 and Rhode Island that are being redeveloped by the Pivot Project and northeast Oklahoma City businessman Sandino Thompson.

As reported last year by the Los Angeles Times, Andy Nguyen's poke (pronounced poh-keh) restaurants have drawn long lines of customers for his menu of poke bowls, sushi burritos, and even Spam fries, made fresh to order.

Project Poke surged in early 2017 when Nguyen's “Sushi Donut” became an overnight hit on Instagram where he now has 63,000 followers.
