Oklahoma brewing impressive craft beer industry

Oklahoma is experiencing a wave of suds sweeping the state as craft breweries pop up across the state.

A few years ago the state only had just one craft brewery, the Choc Beer Co. in the small southeast Oklahoma town of Krebs. Now there are 15 Oklahoma breweries and counting.

And Oklahoma beers are gaining national recognition. Tulsa's American Solera has just been named the best new brewery in the U.S. Oklahoma City's Anthem Brewing Co. won several awards at the Best of Craft Beer Awards held in early February in Bend, Oregon. Choc won awards in Europe in 2010.

"Craft beer in Oklahoma as an affordable luxury is a trend we have seen," said Adam Marshall, 42, treasurer for the Craft Brewing Association of Oklahoma. His family owns Tulsa's Marshall Brewing Co. “There's definitely been an expansion.”
